Week 5: Prototype

Topic, resources, means of creation, and proposed components for messaging will be discussed and examined for a level of rigor appropriate for completion of the master's degree. Votemos PR wants to address the lack of voter registration and access to political information in Puerto Rico. I am working to solve this issue by combining design and research while making all of this accessible to Puerto Ricans. Information will be accessed by an online platform while social media and print collateral will drive awareness. This project is playing off of my three strong skillsets “"art, communication, and connection."

  • The project will be program-encompassing and representative of the Master of Arts in Graphic and Web Design.  After being at MCAD for two years, I believe Votemos PR is capturing all my different skillets I’ve acquired throughout my years in the program. Everything from print foundation, to brand guidelines, to motion graphics and web design is being represented in this project. I will say when I started ideating Votemos, I was not taking print into account so this will be an area that I will be working on a little bit more

  • Research and collected data must be accurate and verifiable, with sources listed and accessible.  Definitely, every week I have been collecting articles, information, details about partners, and even classmate feedback on my google doc.: https://docs.google.com/document/d/14ds09Awg7h2uVf9KgYXE_39jbq-AALiPYtfxYJ7qfR0/edit Even though I have been collecting this information, I need to take some time this week and revisit everything that I've gathered so I can keep working towards my weekly goals.

  • Consistent documentation of process to further articulate intentions of what you're making. For this project, I’ve decided to use my website’s blog as my form for documentation. Thus far, every week I have been posting my progress and any updates along the way. Review here: https://www.holamonicas.com/blog/

  • In addition to other exhibition offerings and presentations, the final project, along with its process, will be accessible and discoverable for viewing as an online gallery. Yes, my current project is being housed in my website’s blog and will create an individual section for it within my portfolio.

  • The project should allow for community engagement and partnership. I am very excited for this part because after getting in contact with D De Diseño, local agency in Puerto Rico, i would like to see where our partnership goes in the upcoming months. Thus far, they have offered to provide feedback but would like to discuss how to make this an active campaign in the island.
