Week 6: User/Target Audience Feedback
Feedback from D De Diseño:
I emailed with Luis, who’s the co-founder of the agency, early this week and he decided to review my prototype and do an exercise. The exercise consisted of him taking each section, within my brand guidelines, and playing around with them to see how he would interact with each of the elements I have created thus far. It is important to note, D De Diseño is an agency whose work specializes in simple graphics and the type, sometimes, does most of the talking. At this point, I believe their expertise will bring a balance to my work.
Below are his suggestions:
Color: Current red and blue might be too close to the political parties back home which will make people not think that it’s a nonpartisan platform. He has suggested to go back to my original pastel color but using the political party colors as a starting point. I am currently considering the color suggestions and hope to land on a color palette by next week.
Typeface: He believes the typeface I have chosen “Recoleta”, as the header, has enough weights to also act as body copy when creating print collateral. He suggested “Recoleta medium” for the body copy. I am considering adding this direction to my brand as well.
Icons: Luis added a few suggestions for icons which I can see them speaking to the brand. I can also see that he got a portion of the inspiration from the motion graphics video where the circles jump inside the voting box. I really want to expand on these icons and see how it can be turned into a pattern which will speak to my motion graphics video.
List of inspirational material: He has also shared a list of material that serves as design inspiration but also supports the voice of the campaign.
Below, you’ll find his list:
1. Soberanía Exitosa: Ángel Collado Scwarz
2. El cerebro del puertorriqueño
3. Película: NO, Dirigida por Pablo Larraín, Actor: Gael García
4. Documental: Los Sures: Este no se si tenga que ver pero debes verlo, esta super interesante.
It is important to note: Tomorrow, I hope to talk to Luis and we plan on debriefing his exercise a little bit more along with hearing his team’s feedback around my project. Sharing my work with other people, especially people back home, has been an incredible process because it helps me think through my design even more. It also helps build momentum and excitement around the finish product(s).
Feedback from two users:
I talked with two Puerto Rican friends, who currently go to the UofM, and shared with them my design and overall idea for Votemos. Here’s their feedback:
Refreshing: “This is an approach to local politics we have never seen before and don’t think others back home have. We are aware of the “Get out. Vote” campaign that always runs in the USA but never in Puerto Rico. Also, your design stands out from what is usually thrown out in local politics. ”
Votemos: “The name is great. Not only does it unite people but it’s also a call to action. One thing you should consider, based on the success you have in the island, is bringing the campaign to the USA and focusing on the LATINX communities around each state. LATINX usually have a low voter turnout and this brand can help.”
Logo: “Simple and straight to the point. Also, clever, by using the V as a check mark.
